About Paul Kavuma
Founder of Talk Smart
Paul is an award-winning Public Speaker with a rare combination of finance, business, Operations management, communication, public speaking and leadership skills.
This combination places Paul in a unique position to carry out business diagnoses. He adds value to organizations by trouble shooting and recommending ways of strengthening operations and internal controls.
Paul has a technical background in Building Design and Construction. Paul has a Bachelors Degree in Architecture. Paul has served on the 17th Council of the Uganda Society of Architects. He worked as a Building-Design assistant at Ssentoogo and Partners Architects before starting his own building construction company.
Paul also holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from ESAMI. He has worked as a sales executive, Operations Manager, and later promoted to General Manager at Ashland Motors Africa Limited – a car dealership that sells and repairs Ashok Leyland Trucks and Volkswagen cars.
Most importantly, Paul is a trained Public Speaker. He believes that people can discover their latent leadership and public-speaking talents through proper training.
Paul has been a member of Toastmasters International since 2016; an organization that develops the Public speaking skills of its members. He served as Club Secretary at Kampala Toastmasters Club. He is the Past President of Muyenga Toastmasters Club.
Paul is also the Past Assistant Division Director for Club Growth (2020-22) – Uganda. He was very supportive during the Charter of UNOC Toastmasters Club, DFCU Toastmasters Club and JMS Toastmasters Club.
Through the Toastmasters International voluntary organization, Paul maintains wide strategic networks from professional and volunteer work connections.
Paul has participated and emerged as winner in over ten public speaking contests some of which include:
- First place Winner of East Africa’s Toastmasters International Tall-Tale speech contest, 2021
- First place Winner of East Africa’s Toastmasters International Prepared Speech contest, 2020
- First place Winner of East Africa’s Toastmasters International Impromptu Speaking contest, 2020
- First place Winner of the 2019 Uganda Toastmasters Speech Contest, Kampala.
- 1st Runner-up at the 2018 Uganda Toastmasters Humorous Speech Contest, Kampala.
- First place Winner of the 2016 Uganda Toastmasters Speech Contest, Kampala.
Paul is frequently invited to address groups such as: Rotary Club Meetings, and seminars organized by professional associations.
Paul has delivered his knowledge to the Ministry of Agriculture in a Communication-Training workshop held in Entebbe in February, 2021.
Paul was also a keynote speaker at the recently concluded 3 day – Rotary International District Conference held in Mbarara (Uganda) on 27th– 29th April, 2023.
